This story begins in 1950 and, from generation to generation, arrives to our
days. It's the story of an extra virgin olive oil producers family. For passion, of course.
It's the story of Mafrica Olive-Mill, which works in Limbadi (VV), cultivating more than 50
hectares of ground. A ground upon which more than 5000 plants live, in different varieties
of "Ottobratica" and "Cicerello". And from these plants, which are clearly family's property,
olives are rigorously hand-picked, and pressed in few hours, they produce a pure,
fragrant, high quality oil.
This is Mafrica oil: its taste and its freshness arrive intact on your table.
But, above all, it is an oil made paying attention to nature. The necessary energy for the
productive process is generated thank to the system of photovoltaic panels installed on
the roof of Olive-Mill.
In addition, through an innovative technology, from residues of olive's
processing, the pit is extracted. This is an ecologic fuel which produces necessary heat to
the productive process, if it is burned in particular boilers.
This is why Mafrica oil is really made according to nature: thank to the
working processes and to the eco-friendly technologies, the corporation managed to
create a virtuous and ecologic production cycle. And we didn't stop with production.
In fact, the Mafrica Olive- Mill chose to be a corporation in total harmony with
surrounding environment all the way. So we had the idea to create a "teaching
farm", where receive Italian and foreign tourists and, of course, groups of
students. Visitors can fully know Mafrica Olive Mill's activities and
resources, and spend some hours in touch with nature, among plants and animals. In this
way natural environment becomes integral part of corporation.
Resources, working technologies, context, product: everything is done in
harmony with the ecosystem. The basis of this choice are respect for nature
and passion for this activity, which have been preserved undamaged
since 1950 to our days.
This is the Mafrica Olive Mill story, a love story.
For oil, above all.
